LAUREATE CONDUCTOR IS FIRST IN CHOICE STAKES

LAUREATE CONDUCTOR (c. 3, Bernstein – Lavender Baby by Rubiano) earned his Black Type in his first Stakes appearance in the $65,000 Choice Stakes at Monmouth yesterday.  Going 1 1/8 miles on the turf,  the colt saved ground early, bid three wide in the far turn, and battled out for the lead in midstretch to win by a tough 3/4 length.  LAUREATE CONDUCTOR is owned by Castleton Lyons, was bred by Mrs. O M Patrick, and is trained by Christophe Clement.

Rounding out the trifecta, another son of BERNSTEIN, Swinging Bernie, rallied to grab the third place finish for owner James Scatuorchio and trainer Todd Pletcher.
