Running a mile on the turf with Garrett Gomez on board, the colt settled in behind until he swung out on the final turn, circled 5 wide at the quarter pole and finished from the outside going away, beating another homebred, Moral Compass (c. 3, Grand Slam – Affair With Aflair) who ran third. Trained by Christophe Clement, this is the talented colt’s third win in his fourth start. GIO PONTI is the second stakes winner for his dam, Chipeta Springs, who is in foal to BERNSTEIN at Castleton Lyons.
