Gormley, a Castleton bred colt by Malibu Moon out of farm resident mare Race to Urga, stomed back into the Derby picture with a battling performance in the G1 Santa Anita Derby last night. Showing a new dimension, Victor Espinoza was able to rate the colt in behind a fast early pace and made ground into the final turn to bravely grind out the victory out-staying Battle of Midway and Royal Mo down the stretch. Gormley is now second on teh Kentucky Derby points standings, just behind Girvin and will head to Churchill with a very good chance of winning the Rub For The Roses.
