« Return to news

At the recent Keeneland January Sale, Gio Ponti continued where he left off after a stellar November by once again being responsible for an excellent group of short yearlings that continued to wow buyers. Topping the charts for the Champion was hip 413, an exceptional colt out of To The Brim, presented by Brookdale Sales, Agent for Two Sisters' Farm, that realized $200,000 from Sam Romero. His breeder Deborah Rush of Two Sisters' Farm in Pennsylvania commented that he was a fine representative of his sire and "was always a really handsome horse" and "He had a really nice head and a great rear-end on him. We've got some hills here and the horses tend to get good engines on them". This price was the highest attained by any freshman sire for a short yearling at this sale. Other highlights included another colt that sold for $140,000, consigned by Lantern Hill Farm, Agent for Highfield Farm, purchased by Ellen Charles of Hillwood Farm. This early May foal is out of the Lemon Drop Kid mare Pastel Gal.
