Earler today, Ponti Scheme a sophomore Gio Ponti filly bred by Castleton Lyons delivered in her first start with a smooth victory in an eight furlong turf maiden at Tampa. With meet leading jockey Daniel Centeno in the irons. she reminded onlookers of her sire as she settled easily towards the rear of the nine strong field and came with a steady run around the bend facing a wall of horses but quickening impressively close home when a gap appeared to get up on the line by a head. Trainer Christophe Clement was very impressed and connections look forward to future starts for this very promising filly who attained a good Beyer speed figure of 71 at this Florida track.
